I do not know what ESC u using so difficult for us to give u answer. Based on electronics, Schottky Diodes is one of the many family of diode. I think for your case, the purpose is to ground/short the flyback/inductive voltage that produce when motor is turn off when it is spinning. U should able to find it in the electronics shop in Sim Lim Tower if u know the part number.
Hi.... yes the ESC came with one but it is on a motor now. So I swap the ESC around but not the motors. I am running it on my RC cars (sedan and buggies).

i always thought its a built in diode .... r u sure u can replace those thingys...
coz diode are more or less comparable to a normal resistor in sizes and weight.
i suggest u just go simlim tower and have a look.
they sell bulk of stuffs and incl. diodes too... i dun thing its difficult to get one... as they are more or less the same... but be sure to get one that can operate in 30 or 40 amps ...

Hi Steady - I tried your ebay link and the item is here already. Its a bit smaller than the one that came with the esc but I tried soldering it and running the car on the 14t motor and it did not blow up so I guess everything is fine.
