My CNC Hobby

    Hi Guys,

I'm In the process of starting to assemble my 4 axis CNC controller. I selected package D(CNC 4 Axis Package with 425 oz-in motor and KL-4030 Bipolar
Driver with 36V/8.8A Power Supply) from Kelinginc as I believe proven to work well.
Last week just received the package and I was so excited while opening the box. Try to wire a single driver and motor just to test and it works fine for me.
With some used metal enclosure and a little drilling I finished with the mounting of PS, 4 driver and interface. But that's it I think for now as my hands are a bit tired. I guess somewhere between tomorrow will the wiring will start.

Thanks.
Almost finished with the wiring, just left are the wiring from driver to motor and the connection of fan.

Hi yuro82164,

I'm new here and found the site after searching for homemade CNC machine.

Are you doing the conversion on a Sherline like quite some memebers of this forum? Prior to the conversion to CNC, are you using your milling machine manually? Is it difficult?

Thanks and hopping for your reply.

          Regards,
          Wongster

            Hi Wongster,

I don't have yet a Sherline mill but in the near future I guess, hopefully. My controller and motors was intentionally selected to be compatible with my current homemade CNC and for CNC ready Sherline mill.
I can't really say if it is difficult to use it in manual mode. It depends on your application maybe and machine accessories you have also skills and determination. I use mine for engraving and later PCB routing. In this case it will be tedious and time consuming if done manually.

At last, done with all the wiring and testing. All 4 drivers and motors are working as expected. Check out the new pics.

Hi Yuro, neat wiring! BTW, which motion controlling software are you using? MAch3? Any intention for a CADCAM soon?

Thanks Lawrence. Yes I'm using Mach3 but trial version only. Decent CADCAM are quite expensive so I use CAMBAM beta release (it's free). It's good enough for my application to start with.

hi yuro, nice job done. Just curious, the 425oz-in motors are used? that's high holding torque.... for sherline machine?

Mach3 demo come with 500lines Gcode processing, should suffice for general and small jobs. Anything beyond 500lines limits a licensed copy is required. Again, even a licensed copy of copy, there is still a 3000lines limits....

                    For sharing....

                          My Hommade CNC

Just to share some pictures. It is made out of 15mm acrylic board. But the attached steppers are the old ones. Just tried cutting acrylic and I found that there are still a lot of things to revise like the router mount, A/B nuts, and so...

wah lanz... DAMN chio....

it makes my a2zcnc upgraded sherline look like some kind of junk ...

But why plexi glass? Is it rigid enough to take the vibrations?
Do you plan on making one that is in ALU?

15mm acrylic board? where did you buy it?

how much does it cost? i asked before and it's very expensive for such a thick piece.

BTW nice machine you got there.
