correct me if I am wrong.

the current situation is

a. we can enter city from Sim Lim side from 12.00 to 17.30 for S$1 on week days. After that is increament until S$3 from 1830 to 1955.

therefore, if we want to enter, we can enter by paying S$1 from that direction or from outram and havelock road direction.


b. Now ,this is the interesting one. actually the ERP from havelock and outram direction ends at 7pm. Not 8pm. In other words, we can still enter from that direction by paying the usual S$2 if you come between 5.30 to 7pm.

we just need to make the change by travelling from CTE and exit havelock road will do.

the only catch is done go back from funan centre side if you want to go back because that S$3 applies and multiple ERP gates so you are expected to pay more depending on which route you choose. The booby traps are everywhere.

I just avoid going there totally. If really need, park outside CBD n take public transport in.

it will come to same thing, public transport need money e.g. 1.50 each trip. 2 ways S$3.

plus parking needs money . you have to put S$1.

total $4

if you go in with your car before 5.30 --S$1
if you go after 5.30 -- S$2

park in front of fook hai and put S$0.5

that it , still save .

I used to do what adrianli does. Park at Lavender MRT station then took a train to city hall for activities etc. After a few try, bei ta han and sian with the crowding in train and some waiting time. Worse still, the fare isnt cheap nowadays. I end up giving up this approach, jus top up cash card and drive lah.

Hmmm $1-2 of ERP sound not too bad... I will try next time coming from Outram .. but hobby shop closed at 7pm except lately for RCS u can find him even at 10pm

I have season parking at South Bridge Rd and free parking at my mum's place in Novena. So I would park there, take a bus, 60+cents one way into Chinatown. Then take a bus back.

There is lots of free parking after 5.30pm at Jalan Sultan there.

The max I pay is S$1.40+ on bus trips two ways.


Whenever I go orchard or TTSH(for my medical appt), I'll park at my mum's place at Novena.


Unless I know I'm buying bulk items, then I'll drive in during weekdays. Weekends, I'll jus drive there and park.

That time was 10cents for student and 20cents for adult. Yes, I did take bus when the conductor will find you and issue a ticket. When it gets crowded, then may get FOC ride.

Can save a lot. If u want, can park at Novena Church(free parking) and take the same buses down to orchard. Five service buses to choose from.

Hobby Shop

I think the RC shop will eventually shift from their present location to somewhere accessible for RC hobbyist that dun require us to pay ERP. The cost of running business within CBD area is just not logical for business from my own view. Even big company are shifting their company out of CBD to save cost. Even if they stay. it will be a slow and painful death. ( FOR THOSE WITHIN CBD AREA). "Those" RC shop already made a name for themself. I personally believe every hobbyist will follow them where they shift. Probably, they should shift to Kelantan Lane.
