Ben, u mean not working on your zap right?
Most likely it's the tail that is giving problems...not your gyro.

I used to have this problem too.....initially i thought it's gyro also, but ends up to be mechanical flaw in the zap400.....a couple of issues:

      - the whole tail output shaft slipping in flight due to loose contact with the output gear...(CNC tailcase solved this problem)
      - The gripping of the blade grips to the shaft is not tight enough, causing it to slip also...(use a hardened steel tail output shaft rather than the stock hexagonal type. Locitite the tail output gear to the shaft.)
      - If your tail servo is still at the stock position, the tail holding won't be that great too....move it back nearer to the tailboom position, or try using a faster servo.

I realised that the tail holds better if you use the stock pushrod....so if you had been using the modded carbon rod as tail push rod, the vibrations will also cause it to drift...

Then another problem will come when u managed to get it to stop drifting...
I shall keep u in suspense and shall wait for you to post your next question to see if you encounter similar problems as I did....

my tail grips are tight as it has not slipped yet.
i mounted my tail servo (hs-50) on the tail boom and using ball-link joint at the servo end with cf push rod and z bend wire at the tail level end..

          Hi Ben,

Spool up at almost hovering rpm and look at the tail assembly....check for any play in the shaft.....I'd say that 80% is a mechanical problem, not the gyro...

The point where your tail blade grips are locked to the tail output shaft also plays a big part in the 'neutral' position of the tail rotor....You need to really set it to hold steadily in hovering in the Normal mode b4 u set to HH mode.....

Dun be like last time u told me my RX was faulty, but never troubleshoot properly..... And if you hate the downtime on the Zap400, get a VE!!

Spend more quality flight time than troubleshooting time.
