    CC25 CUT suddenly

Hello, this just occured to me. It was 7 mins into hovering when the CC 25 just cut off all the power. Luckly my heli was only a few feet above the ground, and impacted on my ALU landing skid.

I touched the ESC, and it was burning hot. Is this normal ? Has anybody else experienced this before ? I'm using Align 400L and E-tec 1700.

After the cut, i had to reconnect the batteries and the ESC worked fine again. I could do another 3.5 mins before the softcut @ 9V kicks in.

The blades i'm using are the wooden ones, but wrapped in 'bamboo' wrapper because i broke one of them and had to CA it back in the morning. Its a little heavier and not really well balanced.

Anybody knows why ? Is there a 'defect' in my ESC ?

i think the cc25 over loaded or the etac is not fully charge
the cc detect low votage and shutdown
i'm a rc sotong. And i know nuts about it.

The E-tecs are fully charged. Because, i'm still able to fly for 3 mins plus after the initial hard cut. I had to off and on the ESC.

Question is, how can the ESC be overloaded, when i'm only hovering and my throttle is only like 70%.

Oh yea, settings for my ESC:

        Cut off: 9v
        Current limit: standard
        Brake: disabled
        Throttle type: Fixed
        Electronic Timing: Standard advance
        Cut off: Soft
        Soft start: Very soft

sounds like it cut out because of the overheating of the BEC ...possible? I have heard this happen..drawing too much current on the servos and over heat the ESC ..the ESC should not be that hot.

Other people using the CC25 doesn't seem to have this problem.

Hmm ... now need to remount it directly under the fan. Will it help if I sent the current limit to insensitive ?

maybe the rest of the CC25 users can help you on this.

sorry i only use cc25 for planes and never had an issue.

CC doing cut off in mid flight can be due to software bug. Well known in some CC. But your case, u claim that your CC is hot. U better take a good look on it.

Is your battery very hot? If so, then something is loading the heli down.

how hot is your ESC after 10 mins ? Or 2 mins ?

THe battery after 10 mins is the usual temperature. Hot, but not untouchable.

                    ttt.

Anybody else uses CC25 and have problems or have no problems ?

How hot in terms of whether you can put ur finger there is the ESC after 1 pack of batteries ?

the only think i can think of is that there is some binding somwhere and has caused the ESC to go into shutdown mode due to too hight of current demand on the BEC ..that still my thought ..since we are actully running them above the spec'ed servos

                      cheers doug

Okie. Going down to try again. This time, changed current limit to insensitive.

Advise you dont do that. Dont remember mine getting that hot; just warm. Try to find out why its doing that first. I burnt one before, was very upset.

                            Hm,

Maybe the cutoff voltage set too high, try 7.2V

                            Failure is not final,
                            Success is never ending:
It is not the destination but the journey that matters.

                            Wadever the journey, keep flying!

It is not the cut off voltage. Cut off voltage will occur later, after i restart the ESC.

It just happened again, there doesn't seem to have any kind of 'load', everything is free wheeling. It cannot be the blades, hm, mike free to help me up a little ?
