I aware of that when I saw the battery compartment that sold in SL Tower. In the end I didn't bought. I just do direct soldering onto the battery and tied them up using tape. My battery is 2300mAH. I can use for few days without any recharging.
Oh... for the connector to 9CHP, I use CDROM audio cable.
Tips for direct soldering: To solder 2 cell point together, use those Desoldering wick instead. It is copper, flexible and thick.
One question, how do u guys charge the battery?
Do u use a computer charger/RC charger like Triton and
charge as 8 cell nimh??
If so, wat's the setting?
Or take them out and use those GP nimh wall chagers?
Has anyone actually found a Li-po pack that can fit inside?
We will probably be able to use a 3s pack right?
I have GWS MC2002 Charger. I use that to charge my 2300mAH battery pack. It is a good charger. If I in the hurry, I can set it to charge at 3Ampere or more and it takes me less that 30minutes or less (I think)!
U can use Li-Poly also and it can cut down the weight but difficult and expensive to find that size. Sometime Harvey Norman got offer of buy 2 get 2 free like that. I got mine from there. Yesterday I saw they have 2500mAH already!!

Super-Hornet
Mind elaborating? Any special type of soldering iron you use? Coz the 2 cell when joined together will leave little space to work on.
For some people it's important to show what they have, for others it's sufficient to know that they have it.

For my other Tx that uses AA cells, I just remove them and slot them all into my M8 batt tray. Then charge at 0.3C to 1.0C max, depending on the urgency.
I've tried using those cheapo batt trays from SLT and always get false peaking. Think the wiring is no good and got overheated easily.
Cheers!

This is what I do. Put 2 cell side by side. (One positive and one Negative on top). It is recommended that u use sand paper or file to sand off a bit of the -ve and +ve terminal first. It will help solder to stick well. Then u solder a bit of tin onto the terminal (Both). Then u solder some solder tin onto the desoldering wick (U know.. those copper desoldering stuff...like flat shoe lace).
Remember!! Don't solder the whole wick. Only the tip/end.
Then u solder the wick onto the terminal. pull straight across to the other terminal and cut it. Solder the other end of the desoldering wick.
Once u finish it, u can just flip one of the cell up in in line to the other cell. There u will have 2 cell connected in series. Do that again for the rest of the cell.
i use exactly the same setup on my JR tx. it is possible to charge the batts directly from the tx charge slot, but currently, i don't have a hobby charger so i take the batts out and charge on a sanyo batt charger, which is safer, and more accurate than using the charger that came with the radio. the trans last much longer this way.
