Suspect Fault in PHX-10 BEC Causing Intermittent Power Cut-Off

    Hi all

Recently I notice my Hornet II (PHX-10 with Himax 2015-4100) keep on having power trip when flying halfway.

I have 3 PHX-10 (2 that is SuperBright LED Type and one that is non SuperBright LED). My Hornet II is using SuperBright LED type. Upon detail inspection, I notice both SuperBright LED type PHX-10, the voltage regulator (2 of them) that doing the BEC (Or it could be 1 for BEC and one for its microprocessor/microcontroller) has blotted/expended marking (This is similar to any semiconductor electronics that when suffers from overheated or overstress.

I also do a quick and simple testing by retracted the antenna to simulate noise so to see whether does noise can cause BEC to trip but it does not. What u see is all servos goes haywire first.

With that I suspect it could be the burn marking BEC that cause the sudden power trip (Therma shutdown like most voltage regulator).

I also tried using my own build BEC into my Hornet II and so far so good.

For those who has BEC or S-BEC, can u tell me what is the price, weight and specification?

    Hi SH,

Is it difficult to make ur own BEC? I have an esc that I suspect has a burnt BEC and would like to salvage it ...

Not difficult. Currently I testing my first prototype of BEC. It is rated as 1A Max. I can make another one that is 1.5A or 3A... provided I can find the electronics chip in Sim Lim Tower.

Cool! Let me know when u get the 3amp thingie up?

In the meantime, I'll pm u to get help when I start my project to revive my ESC ... Thanks!
