    a Warbird Pylon competition for members and non-members on the 10 and 11 November 07.

    Potong Pasir R.C. Warbird Pylon competition 2007

    Plane requirement:
    Applicable to both class.
    1. Plane must be a war bird that saw action in WW2 be it in the European or Asia theaters.
    2. If the judges are in doubt participants must show document prove that the plane did take part in the war. Document must indicate country of origin, squadron assign to, and service period.
    3. Entry plane need not be a 100% scale but must show similar feature, a non scale pilot is required to be inside the cockpit but cockpit detail is not crucial.
    4. Plane must be powered by an internal combustible engine, (2 strokes or 4 strokes or multiple head engine), plane cannot be powered with electric motor or turbine engine. No tune pipe is allowed.
    5. Twin engine plane is allowed in both classes.
    6. No limit on the number of propeller blade but must be secure with spinner nut or spinner that is relevant to the model.
    6. Retractable landing gear is not necessary but plane must come with a set of landing gear complete with wheels.
    7. Plane must not be equipment with auto pilot or GPS system.

    Class 1 plane requirements.
    1. Wing span of plane should not be greater than 67 inches (170cm) wing tip to wing tip.
    2. Maximum engine capacity 90 / 4S or 60 / 2S.
    3. Must be equipped with landing gear for take off and landing.

    Class 2 plane requirements.
    1. Wing span of plane should be greater than 67 inches (170 cm) wing tip to wing tip.
    2. Minimum engine capacity 160 / 2S or 4S.
    3. Must be equipped with landing gear for take off and landing.

    Racing rules:
    a. This is a 10 lap time score race.
    b. Each participant will have to fly 3 heats, the best two of three score will be consider for scoring. The top three ranking pilots will have to fly in a final heat to determine the Champion, 1st runner up and 2nd runner up. This ruling is subject to weather condition.
    c. Maximum of 5 planes will be allowed in the air in any one heat.
    e. Plane must pass the pylon before turning around, turning before will be consider “cutting the pylon”, three pylon cut will result in no score for the heat.
    f. Any act of deliberate crashing plane into another contestant plane will be disqualified from continualing the race.

    Competition rules:
    a. All contestant must double up as pylon marshal, class 1 pilot will marshal for class 2 and vice versa.
    b. No changing of plane or engine for the entice event.
    c. Flying over and behind the pilot line will be deem for disqualification for that heat.
    d. All transmitters must be impound in the radio impound area when competition comment, anyone
    found with the transmitter in their possession will be disqualify from taking part for the rest of the
    event..
    e. Event will start as per schedule time, those turning up late will miss out on their heat.
    f. Jury panel decision is final if dispute is submitted by participants in the event they registered for.
    g. There will be no refund if a participant quit from the competition or being disqualified by the judges or for misconduct.

    Thanks for posting the rules on the Warbird pylon.

    Have some questions for you,

    If one participates in both class1 and 2, one wouldn't be able to help in the pylon marshalling. Will there be an exemption in this case?

    Secondly, the min engine size of 1.60 will rule out lots of planes, CMPro series of warbirds - 1.20 to 1.40, even those that are powered by 26cc China made gas engine will fall short - 1.60 is 26.21 ml - would you consider scraping the min engine requirement or amending it to say .95? The min wingspan requirement will prevent class 1 birds from taking part in class 2.

    Finally, the entry fees of $10/15 - what kind of prizes and goodies we get for that money?

        Hi Goh,
        some participants from the big bird side were suggesting the engine requirement for the 68" above open the engine requirement. I do not see any problem with that, can you make this changes.
