Junior Flying Club - Take Off Magazine

    Dear Fellow Aeromodellers,

Here are some images from Take-Off magazines I believe will surely bring back those good old memories to folks from Junior Flying Club way way back in 1980s.....

Those are the days where we went crazy over control lines......and I'm glad we still see familiar faces at Punggol, Woodlands, Jurong West etc....

if you have some old pics or mag from Junior Flying Club...feel free to share your memories bros....

Photo of myself and Sata front page...I've won Chuck Glider & Combat Class "A" were some of proud moments once we were young...

            WOAH ! ......what memories !

....Note the champion for FAI Combat F2d ....That was the last year for us as the plan was not to win the challenge trophy 3 times in a row (otherwise you can keep the trophy but got to buy a new one to replace)
....the competition sort of died down after that !

Seriously running out of ...Storage space !

John - you're the best! Those mags sure sent a chill down my spine as fond memories of childhood flashes in my head. Makes me feel young again! Wasn't it just yesterday we were starting our modified PAW engines (S$25) and smelling freshly cut grass at Tanglin?

Maybe we should start a veteran team and compete in the next YFC competition! Sure can make it one!

John, I printed the group photo and showed my family those younger daze..then came a query, "That can't be 1986! You were 20 year old then!"

So when was that photo taken?

sorry off topic a little - I find this very interesting. What is Chuck and what is FA1? I noticed in the participant list that the Chuck (n Rat!) is enrolled with sec sch students largely. The others like FA1 has some NUS, RSAF, SP and seemingly older age groups. Are they all controlled by one line?

Ching Chong, you don't know what fun you missed in the old days!! Check out FAI website for more information.

Chuck glider is a small, hand launched glider, usually shaped out of balsa. I made one our of foam some months back and piggy back onto my E-starter.

Rat race - this is usually for more basic models that are simple to build and race. However, there are some rules regarding the engine size, wing span, etc. The rules can be found in JFC (now called SYFC) website.

If Tony is reading this, how about organizing some control line events in PFW?
