    Looking for r/c aircraft tutor

    Hi,

I'm looking for someone to teach and demo (in a few sessions) to a small group of about 5 university students and staff how to setup, fly and maintain a small fleet of r/c planes and helicopters. In return, the teacher will be compensated for his time and effort.

    The requirements are as follows:

    1. Well versed in flying both kinds of aircraft, electric and nitro.
    2. Using mode 2.
    3. Hopefully able to conduct the training on weekday mornings or afternoons when the flying site has less hobbyists.

An "interview" flight will be conducted with the teacher flying his own plane and helicopter before being hired. This is to prevent someone unskilled coming and flying our aircraft for free and damaging them.

I can entertain only serious enquiries about the training and nothing else. As you can see, the process of selection is rather stringent. This is due to the fact that the aircraft mentioned are carrying very valuable sensors (much more than we put in hobby systems).

So if you're thinking of passing your skills on for a few bucks, please let me know! Thanks for taking your time to read my posting!

      Hello!

Some have asked me about the compensation involved. The budget we're allowed to use for this event is $SGD 500. The training does not have to be on weekdays. It can be conducted on Saturdays but it would be preferable for the staff in the university if the training can be done during their office hours.

      Thank you!

Why not approach official flying clubs like YFC, RMS, BBAFC, PPA, etc....

They should have the proper instructors. Saw some guys wearing instructor t-shirts while I was at RMS 2yrs ago.

Yeah, thats what I heard too. The problem is that our overseas expert uses mode 2. Everytime he comes, we have to switch. Very leh cheh.. So the whole team uses mode two. Thanks for the tip! ;)

U might want to rethink that sentence. Please search around this forum and u will realize quite a number of flyers uses non mode 1

Please keep the discussion civil. Thanks.

I did not hire the european expert. My boss did. But the expert has over twenty years of experience building and making aircraft. He builds drones for his air force with out of sight range. And he is familiar with the sensors that we put on the aircraft. How many people in the world has this sort of experience? So, perhaps, you should understand our situation first before commenting on our choice of expert.

You have to remember that I am doing research, not flying my r/c plane as a hobby. Otherwise, I will go to FF to learn and not hire someone to come and teach. That is why we enlisted the european expert to help integrate the sensors onto the aircraft. But he was only here for a very short time. Hardly enough to teach most of my friends to fly. Hence, that's why I am looking for an instructor now.

I have received some tentative enquiries. Please keep them coming! Thank you

                    Hi Muddy,

I concur with you. People simply jumped gun w/o knowing a single thing. They are not here to share but to start a flame war. Had removed his posting.

Hello! Thanks for everyone's patience and interest so far.

I have been told to provide more information with regards to the position.

Aircraft to be flown: Electric Planes
                        Electric Heli
                        Nitro Heli

Level of flying skill: No need to do stunt but must be good at teaching, i.e.
able to recover the aircraft when the student loses control
(I know it is not always possible. Please don't flame me
                        about it.

Level of knowledge: Must be able to quickly diagnose and solve potential
                        problems.
Some knowledge on aircraft dynamics and physics would
                        be good.

Equipment necessary: There could be things that you might have that we do
not. So maybe you can bring your tool box or tools you
think we will need. Otherwise, we should have the
                        necessary equipment here.

Training duration: 5 sessions of the training are to be conducted with each
lasting from 90mins to 2 hours. Each session is a week
                        apart.

Interview Flight: I know that this is a hassle but it is necessary. We would
prefer for the interview flight and the sessions be
conducted either at JW or Woodlands.

Students: The people to be trained are a mix of post graduate and under
graduate students in their final semester. It might include some
of the professors here as well. We'll try to keep the group size
                        managable.

Key objective: The main aim of this training is for the instructor to pilot and
land a kyosho M36 electric plane. The plane carries our
electronic equipment on board and is our primary research
vehicle now. The students will be doing data uplink and
downlink during the flight. Other objectives are to be met but
they are too much to list here.

I hope the above information helps. My apologies if the requirements seem overly stringent but I they are very necessary. Once again, I appreciate everyone's interest.
