Hello to all slope soaring enthusiast,
I'll be heading down to Tanjong Sutera Resort at Sedili, Johore on the 24th to 25th of February with a few regulars for a 2 days 1 night stay. For those who are interested, you can organize within yourselves and tag along with us. I also understand that there is also a BBQ session on 24 Feb, but those who just want to fly, you can also join us on a day trip on Sunday 25 Feb.
The place has been fully renovated although there are still some ongoing upgrading projects going on. The bridge over the river that seperates the 2 land mass has been completed and now it is very convenient for us to drive all the way to the resort itself. No need to take the ferryacross the river unless you wish to. The place is nice enough to bring your family members along if you wish. There's a small swimming pool that you can go for a dip after a good day of flying. For nature lovers, you can explore the rocky beach at low tide and the forested areas.
The stay will include 3-4 meals if I can remember and the price is yet to be confirmed, which should not be too expensive. For those who do not wish to stay, you can make some local arrangements just to pay for the facilities used and head back home after the flying session.
As for the flying, the slope had some erosion and parts of it are getting very steep. Definitely not for exploration but they creates a lot of vertical lifts. Bring along an EPP foamy if you are not so precise in landing, or you are all out for slope combat. Easyglider will do well and will survive without breaking up. Some reinforcement tapes is recommended if you want to save some scratches. And please bring along some ballast as necessary.
Just for update, some of us were there yesterday and was like flying our planes in hurricane. The wind is so strong that even my eyelids are fluttering without wearing any glasses. My Easyglider was flying most stunts that a glider can do. It can do consecutive rolls after rolls without falling out of the sky. It can even stay inverted all the way if you coax it enough. As usual, my Salto was ballasted for very ballistic flying which sent it screaming over the slope. Johnnie's Super Hit terrorized everyone on the slope and another friend of us got plenty of stick time to learn to fly with his Eraser.
