I have the black and decker dremel copy ..fits everything like the dremel but is about 1/2 the price and can do more like control the speed and locking bit removal!! a much better option.

got mine from GWC diy store

          cheers

            Dremel

A dremel is known as a rotary tool......there are different brands.....so far to my knowledge The Dremel is still the best....btw the Rotary tool by Black and Decker(RTX) cost rougly the same like Dremel....Prices: Dremel S$170++, Black and Decker S$160++......if price is problem u can this rotary tool by Robust at S$79, u can get it at HandyFix DIY store at Northpoint shopping Centre as for the dremel and the Black and Decker u can get them at HomeFix DIY store......

I don't think I would put price as a problem. Its just a matter of time to that sorta money. Since dremel better advertised, does it mean its better?

Well it is not because of the Dremel is better advertise or anything....well just put like this....Dremel have quite a range of accesories....i dun know, it up to you to decide......if i m not wrong Dremel came up with the rotary tool first....thus they must must have done loads and loads of R & D before they actually came out with the tool......well bro....the Black & Decker RTX rotary tool is quite cool....i like the colour.......just a tip.....if u are planing to get those rotary tool which run on Batt......better don't as eventually in the long run u ll need to change the batt when they are dead....regarding the Black and Decker RTX u can ask tele or A.K.A Doug to review as i tink he has one.....

Kinda agree. Would buy a flexi tube. Does Decker have a stand that you can buy to install the rotary tool to make it a precision drill like dremel has?

BTW i just saw a picture of a mike's lathe on this site. Other than the typical spinning of the job, what little adjustments and functions are we looking aT?

Is there some site I can learn machining from?

yeah the B &D has a cable accessory that you can get and the parts are cheaper then the origional dremel ones but they are all interchangable.

I only paid $76 for my B&D from GWC during a sale . it came with 50 attachments a carry box and a $7 ( 10%) cash voucher.

it was a good deal. but this is over a year ago.
back then the dremel was still in the $200 range for the similar setup.
I also have battery one which is very handy for small jobs ...but I got it from OZ many years ago ..never seen them since. all the dremel and B&D parts are interchangable between the three.

I also have a bench grinding wheel and polisher which has a hand grinder attachmnet like the dremel on it ..saw it here in a shop for about $100 small but effective. Yet again I got mine form OZ and its great for shaping metal and other things.

                    cheers doug
