Thanks Art for welcoming me onboard.

        Just a brief intro,

My interest in RC started since school time 30 years ago. But it only become my hobby about 10 years ago. I started off with cars, boats, hovercraft and now planes/heli. I fly both gas and electric, aerobatics/patterns and 3D (OK only). In the passed 2 years I fly more electric and have special passion for indoor flying (no sun, no rain, anytime).

The championship is organised by the Singapore Youth Flying Club (SYFC).Basically there are only 2 events. Endurance and spot landing. You can check out more details in their web site http://www.syfc.sg/.

SYFC has being organising such event for the passed 4 years. I am surprised that it is not well known here. Anyway it is never too late. Come join the competition. The more the merrier. It is fun and challenging and will make you come back year after year. The competition is friendly in nature but it makes you want to win the next time. It also indirectly help to improve your flying skill.

I have being participating in the events together with my son (12 yrs old) for the last 3 years. I know there is a lot of electric planes flyer in Singapore and many have very good skill. Some of these flyer do join in the competition off and on mainly just for the fun. But the nunber is always a handfull.

BTW, I do not have any direct/indirect interest in promoting this event. It just bothers me to see such a small turn out. Especially when it is a National Competition!

                    I got no IFO leh...

Had a briefing by Harn this morning about the spot-landing. Seems challenging but interesting... heard something like 2 mins duration and spot land over different areas of points with the highest spot at 50 points.

                    will look forward...

Derrick, looks like its time to build one of those cheap foamies. The weight limitation is only 500g...so looks like you got to build it light and strong to take the punishment of those hard landings if you're gonna beat the clock.

I am happy to see the response is possitive.

The rules for the competition can be found on the SYFC web site. Briefly the key points to take notes are:

                        General Rules
                        a) Max flying weight = 500g
                        b) Max surface area = 150 dm2
                        c) Max swept vol of motor = 400 brushed or 4800 brushless motor

                        For Endurance competition,
                        a) Battery = Lipo 8.4V(2 cell) 150 mAh
                        b) Must ROG no hand launch

                        For spot landing competition,
                        a) No 3D flying (fovering, reverse etc). Must come in like a normal landing
                        b) No restriction on size/type of battery used

After participated in 3 such events I came to realised that the organiser (SYFC) are very friendly people and understood that sometime certain rules need not be 100% followed. For example they are not very particular about the size/weight/type of the plane nor the frequency used (27, 29, 40, 84 MHz etc). For those who fly indoor before with probably agreed that big is not always better.Hence do fly with what ever you are are most comfortable with in an indoor environemnt.

But for others rules (e.g. Battery type, ROG, no 3D) then they will insist.

                              Hi Guys,

I have this link that have lots of foamies plans from Gene Bond to STC to foamfly to 3D foamies. Foamie Plans here

Caution: Its a large file. You would also need WinRar to unrar(unzip) the file.

Heres a link to download WinRar

                              I hope this helps.

                              Cheers
