    GWS 480 ESC with Lipos....

Ehh... can't afford to buy a proper LiPo ESC....

Any precaution should I take if I should mix a GWS480 with a Etec 2S2P? -- How to tell I should stop flying since the cut off voltage is far too low?..

I already checked the motor+prop current draw... this portion is ok.

Any other thing I missed out?

I burnt out 2 480s on my estarter when I used the 3Ss on them.

Didn't have any problems with the 2Ss so I guess u'll be alright.

480 Max Voltage is only 9.6V... it cannot support 3S

Actually I am more concern on the part where I over drawn the LiPos.... and how to prevent it while using the 480s.

What i do in the past..... test fly the combo, every 5 min take down the voltage reading, when voltage nearly 6.5volts, set the time from that. See how many time you stop for measure then time 0.8. let say you stop for 3 time that mean 15min X 0.8
        = 12min.

        or

Do a groud test, get some one to hold your plane, with WOT ( full throttle) measure the current draw and voltage. When the reading drop to 6.0 volts (under load) get the time. This method are the best for me so far. When flying the current will drop bcoz of the load decrease when the plane speed up.

when you change prop or gear ratio or motor or battery pack or anything in your combinition, you need to do the test again coz every thing are changing.

After few time you fly the same combo you'll feel the voltage drop by poor performance when low voltage.

just a simple method for fun flying
        happy flying

          Thanks!!

I can sense the voltage drop in my current Nicads (600mAh, 8.4V) pretty well, usually having at least a minute before reaching the ESC's cut off voltage.

Is LiPos voltage drop more gradual than Nicads or steeper?

Actually the ics 480 can take 3s packs ive been using it in my zoom w/o problems. Some on rcgroups also do that
TX:2 Sanwa Quasars , Futaba 9C super (heli)
            Gliders :JW 54 , Sprinter , Flip400 (unbuilt)
            Planes: Jumping Jack,,Zoom 4D,IFO, magic 3d,
            Helis:Feda,Zap 400

The funny thing is I use to fly my piccolo pro using 3S1P w ICS-300 .... Main motor on 410 size and tail is an IPS

It mean Brushed motor will happy with 9.6Volts, we can use 3cells, but this will kill/burn the motor even faster.
But who care coz brushed motor r cheap nowday
