Existence of a new local RC flying forum

It came to me by surprise on the existence of a new local RC flying forum.

daddyHOBBY would like to inform we are not and do not wish to be in anyway related or associated to this forum. We seek your understanding in considering the interest of our advertiser who had contributed greatly to keep this forum going.

We would like to remain our stand in providing a neutral forum accomodating members views and discussion.

Mike has spent lots of time, effort and money on this forum without getting anything in return.

This forum has helped many of us (be it to know more friends or to share info etc) and it is still etched in our minds that so many of us worked together in this forum to help save HUMAN LIVES. I feel that it is very unethical and disrespectful to Mike and to everyone of us here to create another local RC forum and then poach people to go over. Is this the way to "repay" Mike and everyone of us here?

Singapore has such a small population that we ask ourselves for what reasons do we need another local RC forum and are we ready for it? Mike has given us much autonomy in how we want to run this forum and he only step in if it gets out of control & he will relent if we all give him a shout. Do we need another local RC forum to scatter information and friends between both forums? If the real agenda in setting up another local RC forum is solely for power and $ then I have nothing to say.

I will not patronise the other local RC forum. United we stand, divided we fall....

I need also to point out that prior to HZM setting up daddyHOBBY.com, there was permission and opinion seeked from KP who founded the Starhub forum..

It's common courtesey, and respect for the other owner.

Take it as my effort has gone to waste.

no need scared one la, this is by far the largest in singapore, so why worry about people going over to a largely unknown and unpopulated forum? the traffic here is low enough, this kind of thing will eventually die down la...

Let me clarify, is there only 1 hobby shop in Singapore?

I maybe wrong but I feel that we can't compare an Internet forum with a hobby shop because different hobby shops sell different brands and types of stuff while Internet forums basically serve the same purpose.

If the new local RC forum was setup by someone we don't know then I rest my case. But I did a check and found out that the new forum was setup about a month ago on 13th Jan and by someone we knew and whom we helped so much.

Isn't that ironic?

Relax Bro..! I think your are over-reacting,(of couse, this is just my opinion) it doesn't really matters if there is only one, two , or three R/C forums in SG. People have their choice to choose where they are comfortable with, DH have been here for a while people who wants to stay will stay. If somewhere else is better you cannot stop people from going..too.

Just have to be open with it, I am a member of another mini local R/C Forum myself too.., we discuss R/C , family and rubbish matters...we are a happy group that go out for team activities all the time and none of them except myself joins DH(of course they all know about DH). I hope this doesn't make us being unethical and disrespectful to Mike by having a separate R/C forum.

Why the fuss over a new forum? everyone has the right to go where they please, I'm so sure you guys ( the people) that put this Forum (DH) has earn the respect form the folk that visit this site. I'm sure they are aware of the effort and countless hours involve. So don't worry. To me the more forums the better. I don't usually visit here, I visit when I think I could contribute my advices that will be good to others. So don't worry bros, keep doing the Great job you guys been doing for so long. Ezzy.

I have to agree with aloev. Ive been to overseas forums and some local forums which i stumbled upon (lost link liao) . However, i do not find it as comfortable posting things compared to DH.

Even on other Internet forums like Hardwarezone, Hardwarezoom, VR-Zone,

i only patronise HWZ as i feel more "welcomed" there and things are more lively. ironically, im always complaining about that forum but somehow its still quite comfortable to be in.

The existence of a new forum, just monitor it. To me, creating a new forum means new responsibilities. Failing to uphold that responsibility really is bad .

NOTHING can replace the original

I stand for DH . I've created a whole bunch of good friends and learnt a lot from DH . comparing to other forums, DH takes care of me as though im their little child . thats why i feel homely here

I also visit other forum such as ezonemag, HWZ and it is fine to visit other forums. In fact it is good to visit other forums and open your vision & knowledge and share info with us here in DH.

It's true forums do come up all the time, it's a free world, free expression
BUT the crux here is that someone who grows in DH (in terms of knowledge, experience and friends) and whom most of you know and even helped that person suddenly goes and register a domain name and setup a new full-fledged forum (not those free ones from delpi etc) with advertisements and then poach people to go there, how would you feel Where is the loyalty or there is loyalty no more? How would the owner of that new forum feel if one day his good friend does the same to him?

Singapore already has such a small RC community and we should keep the community knitted. We are not like the States where the RC population could be same as Singapore's population. It's one of the reasons why I closed the StarHub forum so that we do not get scattered between different forums. Managing a forum is never easy, if DH can be improved further we can work towards that, creating another forum will not solve the problem but will only worsen and cause drift among Singapore's RC community. It will be a lose-lose situation in Singapore as it will result in dilution of postings from both forums.
